Today I went in for a physical. Nothing exciting there. I really wasn't thinking of all the... shall we say 'intricate details' of a medical. If I had I probably wouldn't have brought company in the form of a 3 year old. Yes the baby was there as well, but at 10 months he really could care less about what is going on. To really get a laugh you have to picture yourself in my shoes or I guess without shoes in this case.
As soon as we entered the room and the nurse pulled out the paper gown I froze in my tracks. How could I have been so foolish as to forget the medical attire or lack there of. So as I start to disrobe my 3 year old starts yelling "NO MOM! No No your girl bits! No one can see your girl bits". I explained to him that the doctor was just going to check my scar (I had a C-section with my second child) and when the doctor came in he could watch a movie on his portable DVD player. (Luckily this was in the car and when I realized what was about to go down went and got it. Better he watch a Thomas movie then a 'horror' show live!) He was content with that answer and went back to playing.
The doctor came in, greeted us and sat down. My son giggled grabbed my bra from under the stroller, wound up and pitched it at my doctor's head. It hit him right square in the forehead then fell onto his lap. My doctor rocks. He simply made a joke that he "never has had that thrown at him...in his office anyways" and then went back to the check up. I on the other hand could not stop laughing.
The rest of the check up went smoothly as both boys settled in to watch the Thomas movie. With the exception of low blood pressure I got out of there with a clean bill of health and only a shred of my dignity stripped away.
My life once full of shopping, working out and general selfishness is now centered around my family! With two boys under 3 and a big one (a.k.a. my husband) I am now at their beck and call . . . and I wouldn't change it for the world! Check back often for product reviews, time saving tips and things not just moms, but all women need! Please join me on the exciting journey full of laughter, silliness and occasional days of full on insanity!

To Be The Bully or The Bullied?
Today at Chapters I sat and watched my son interact with another boy slightly older than him. My son had brought one of his own toys in and was playing with it and this boy took it out of my son's hands. The boy's mother didn't say anything. There is always one of these mothers there every time I go. Her child does whatever it wants, to the point where the poor person who works there has to confront the child and ask them to stop ___________ (this blank is filled with whatever outlandish thing the child is doing that anyone with a thought would know they shouldn't be allowing their child to do and stop their child from continuing, without some poor person half their age on minimum wage having to point out).
My son looked at the boy and then back at me. He simply said "hey" in a quiet voice to the boy. Now we have always taught our son to share but at what point are you teaching him to roll over and take it. Generally I have taught my son to let the other child have a turn, then he could have it back. This is however when another child expresses interest in the toy he has. As I watched the expression on his face as his toy was ripped from his hand I thought of myself and the oh-too common feeling of just standing there when someone has wronged you. Instead of expressing anger I express hurt or nothing at all and hope the other party feels bad, they never do.
I don't want my son to be rude, but at the same time I do not want him to feel helpless. I do not want him come home from somewhere running over the things he should or could have said when he was wronged. I do not want him to repeatedly have his feelings hurt because a 'friend' said something rude and he said nothing to defend himself. I don't want him to feel bombarded by a stronger personality. I don't want him picking fights but I also don't want him settling to avoid them. All these are thing I feel and do too often. His father expresses his opinions and confronts someone who has wronged him, they exchange their thoughts and words, then they both get over. This is a trait I admire in him.
I hope both of my children have my calmness but their father's 'freedom of speech'. So what did my son tell the boy in the store today? I told him to ask the boy "May I please have it back", which my son did. This didn't work on the other boy but at least he tried and voiced his words.
I never want my son to be a bully, but I don't want him to be bullied either. This brings us to the question is it better to be the bully or the bullied?

Leggings Are NOT Pants
I have a bone to pick with legging wearers! There are two types of legging wearers. I am not talking to you legging wearers who wear them with a nice tunic, dress so short your bum would show if you bent over or a long shirt . . . please legging away! I too wear leggings, in fact I am wearing them right now with a long shirt/short jacket.
I am talking to those who wear them as pants! If your shirt is up to your waist, is tucked into your "pants" or your mid drift is showing and you are still sporting leggings please don't. You aren't doing anyone a service especially yourself. Unless you are blessed to look like a Victoria's Secret Model (in fact I have never even seen a VS model wearing leggings as pants) then chances are the look is a little too Peg Bundy! Check out Net-A-Porter for chic ways to wear leggings. The only pair they have with a shirt tucked in are $990, yes you read that right, nine hundred and ninety dollars! I am sure for that kind of money you are not getting anything sheer or flimsy.
Look into jeggings! These hug your curves and give the skin tight appeal that men love but with out the sheerness of a legging. There is nothing worse then when you bend over and your leggings go see-through, or are being pulled so tight they become shiny. They are basically thick nylons, and no one would rock those with a short shirt!
Just sayin'!
